Lead Paint Removal
The introduction of Lead at Work Regulations 1998 SI 543, Control of Lead at Work ACOP 1985 and The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 1994 SI 3140, has brought increasing awareness of the risks in handling and removing lead-based paints.
Lead paint is found extensively throughout the UK in older buildings and infrastructure. Safe removal requires the similar levels of PPE to that of asbestos and, as such, carries a premium in the cost of handling; the waste is also hazardous.
Inappropriate preparation and removal of surfaces containing old lead paint, during renovation and repainting work, can create an additional source of lead-containing dusts and fumes, which can be both ingested and inhaled.
Removal techniques used by our specialist operatives use non-toxic materials which can work through over thirty layers of paint to the bare metalwork.
